This image captured 12/13/14 was the result of planning, adapting, waiting and freezing coupled with a lot of prayer. The forecast said there would be 3 inches of fresh snow with a break in the clouds about 8 AM so I drove through the night to get there. Shivered in the car all night as I waited for dawn and it continued to snow. When sunrise was supposed to happen the whole sky was banked in with thick grey storm clouds. The gamble hadn’t paid off. I sat in the car and got some other work done, when I saw a faint ribbon of light in the sky. I jumped out of the car and ran out with my gear and got all set up. Nothing happened. I made myself a cup of hot chocolate and sipped it while taking some images just because of the fresh snow even though the light and color was not what I hoped for. Then it happened. The clouds parted just a bit. I made a few captures and thanked God for a glorious morning and the clouds closed back up again. Below is a quick video of the clouds as they moved back in. Truly a moving experience with one of my favorite captures on a very memorable day.

In most of my work I am a huge fan of sublimation printing. We can print on Aluminum for example that makes an image luminescent. It seems to glow from within. You can sublimate onto Maplewood blanks for example which gifts a softer earthy feel to an image. Sublimation prints come ready to hang, and they are a durable cleanable print.
